I think I just lived through a Bill Baley routine

Upon answering the phone, I was greeted by the dulcet tones of a gentleman from the Indian subcontient, somewhat improbably named "Kevin", who informed me that he was calling on behalf of the Do Not Call Service, who can get you removed from unsolicited telemarketing lists. Is this a cleverly disguised joke about recursion, or a real thing similar to the Telephone Preference Service? We are, of course, already registered with the TPS, for extra irony points

ah, but this is a global marketplace and you clearly haven't registered with the Indian do not call registry http://pdnc.bsnl.co.in/

And you know Aussies in call centres are allowed to use the Australian one rather than the UK one, right?
