Stuck-In-The-House Product Review

5 stars: Microwave Panini Press

Back when microwaves first hit the consumer market in the 70s it spawned a whole bunch of platters and pots that would grill or brown. They all sucked.  I hate most cold sandwiches. This thing works.  The only negative is that it is too small to cook for two at one time.  I found a similarly designed, slightly wider one and ordered it.

Lekue Microwave Grill, Sandwich Maker, Panini Press, 10 In x 5.7 In.

Helps satisfy our cravings for restaurants.

Small enough to put two in the microwave at once?

And do they brown the bread or just heat things up? I've never seen anything brown in a MW. It seems to go cold -> hot -> burned

Yeah, but Louise wants to put big slices of pumpernickel in one.  That didn't fit.  ...And now I will have two.

Yes, if you butter the bread it leaves grill marks.

I've also just now grilled a boneless, skinless chicken thigh with a sprinkle of olive oil and feta cheese. (5 minutes.)  That had a nice char on it.

Rec'd the bigger one. Its grill area is approx 1.7 times that of the smaller one.  The tech is the same.

I was able to grill 2 large chicken thighs in it.
