Ha. I was recently "elected" (read: strongarmed) into becoming the president of a local board that oversees water, sewer and roads in our area. In my campaign speech, I said "If nobody else will do it, I promise that I will take the office, but I do not promise that I will do a good job."
As no other warm bodies came forward, that platform was sufficient to get me elected.
So I'm sort of in training to become an old coot who gives free advice, mostly bad. It's a main reason I'm looking forward to being old. Nobody finds those qualities/habits endearing in middle-aged people.
[Oh, and I'm well on my way - today I received my first pension check from my old state of Wisconsin job!]
