I need a decent Quickbooks like accounting package to keep track of my expenses and business money. Oh, and I run a Mac, but I can run PC stuff on it..
Any suggestions?

use quickbooks pro here to interface with the cpa who takes care of all the monthly bookkeeping and taxes and crap for about $350/month - it's been a sanity saver (I hate numbers)

Quickbooks pro here. Intuit is a massive pita as a vendor but it's the best package I've found. I tried to migrate away from it this past year but simply could not find anything that replaced all of its functionality. And, as JamesR says, in the US most accounting offices are fluent in it as it's become the defacto standard for small businesses.

Will Quickbooks work outside the US? I don't hear of many people using it in Asia.
That Xero cloud based system looks quite cool. They have a free trial for personal accounts. I might give it a look.

I use quicken home & business. Light on features but does everything I need since I hand all of it off to my cpa for the heavy lifting anyway.

Might be worth looking at Peachtree. Not so popular in the US, but they are owned by Sage, who dominate the UK low end / mid market. It'll have some inventory management and like fluff that you probably won't need much, but it integrates with Word / Excel, and it will allegedly handle import / export of data in Quickbooks format too, so there shouldn't be an issue with accountant communications either

15 years ago Peachtree dominated the small biz accounting market here in the US. Quicken (basic checking) expanded into Quickbooks (full accounting) and essentially swept the market. You can get QB Pro 2010 on Amazon for about $125, I think ...as 2011 version came out in Oct. Wherever you get it, read the reviews on Amazon or business forums to get a feel for the tricks Intuit pulls. There has been, IMO, some elements of crippleware and heavy doses of walled-garden marketing to the user base built into past packages. Nagware was also I problem. Still, even with the ugly warts, most of us on QB can't find a better alternative.
