Not combat-ready carriers, so it seems.

Too many engineering degrees in the Navy.  You buy critical systems that work and can still function even when the ship has been damaged.  You build strong and you build reliable and you build in redundancies to insure function in battle.  Because a ship that can't function can't fight and fighting is it's function.

Watch nobody will ever be help accountable for this, except the taxpayers.

Can't you do anything other than complain? We have the most technologically advanced warship in the world and you want it to ALSO be combat-ready? Some people just can't be pleased.

As long as it has the machine that goes ping, I'm happy.
