We are an evergreen lumber state. The only other place I've felt 'at home' is the Pacific Northwest forest greenery.  But all that lushness comes with a price --prolific pollen.

Pavement, driveways, rooftops, parked cars, patios will be tinged yellow for a couple of weeks.  After a rain, the puddles will be a bright yellow soup where it collects.

I once foolishly decided, at the peak of pollen load, to hit a pine tree with a pole... I was enveloped in the cloud. Not as intense as in the video, but enough to cause respiratory distress.

Surprisingly, that pollen doesn't bother me that much even when it coats everything in yellow. But the cedar pollen, which is more grey and finer and you don't really see, just incapacitates me.
