Saw the retail apocalypse firsthand today.
« on: March 04, 2021, 01:53:42 AM »
I had an appointment today in the nearby urban area. This particular mixed development is composed of about a dozen retail strips + medical + condos.  It is modestly upscale --lots of "nuevo-millennial" restaurants, bistros, coffee shops.

Well, make that past tense. It WAS lots of "nuevo-millennial" restaurants, bistros, coffee shops.  Now it is lots of blank glass storefronts.  It was eerie and sad sitting in its vast parking lots at noon and watching just a handful of cars coming in to the dozen or so shops and restaurants that were open.
