google logo change >> click through to puff piece >> first line says Googles been around 17 years.
which means I have known (or known of) most of you guys for 18 years. Brad, I think you were the first person to say hello to me on an SEO forum - I blame this all on you :)
Aaahh, alta vista...

Hotbot, Northern Light, Lycos, Snap and Inktomi
We're getting too old for this sh!t.

getting? ;)

We're getting [ARE] too old for this sh!t.
Do you remember "Michael Martinez" ? OR Jim Wilson after a night out on Saturday ? GOOD TIMES
-
That is a heck of a long time. Gurtie, I take the blame, but you far surpassed me about 5 minutes after we we met! :)
As far as folks here on Th3 Core, I've known Gurtie, ukgimp and later Rooftop the best, although I've known of or bumped into many of you from your postings on old WmW.
I feel old.
>Northern Light
I never figured out how to spam NL.

I use the line "My first 4 domains were free. There was no ICANN, no registrars." to date myself. You'd be surprised how much this confuses even tech people. But I spent my first years on domaining and commercial content development, not seo. I really didn't pay attention to engines until AV started crawling.
>Martinez
Fastest typing forum member I've ever known. Seemed like he could blow through 500 words in seconds.

>> Martinez
yes, and who was the guy who had a fixation with Shakira?
I still miss Lots0 :(

I remember those days well, but it cost me a fax machine and huge international fax bills to get them! If only I still had those old great domains.
-
>>Martinez
First webmaster to chew me out. :) Later, we were admins together on Spider Food Forums. Still debate things via Twitter now and then.
>Lots0
His strafing runs to get the folks at IhelpYou forums on the warpath were most entertaining. I think he peaked when he baited GoogleGuy to personally threaten him several times in public on SEW forums but in doing so Lots0 proved that warm fuzzy G had a lot more information about SEO's than they ever let on. Good times.

My memory may be faulting, but I remember NL liking a lot of text with heavy kw density. I love those days by the way, it was so much fun to have the traffic come from multiple search engines and to see how many of them you could be on top of.

WOW.. I never realised we had SOOO many old timers here. ;)
I am a real Newbie. I didnt build my first site until 1999. And then I had someone else build it for me!
I guess I was first online before then, but I would count the minutes, because dial up was so expensive. I guess that was from 1995. Cannot remember what I was doing. Certainly not getting to know anyone. That was a really weird thing to do back then.

It's why I come here. It's the only part of the internet that makes me feel young :)

>Martinez
He(?) was the original articlebot.

Isn't it great to have known really good people for 18 years?
:)

Yes it is, and we are all still in the game in one way or another. Which is pretty extraordinary considering everybody thought this gig was transient.
