The Deputy First Minister asked people to be “sensible” when purchasing food and fuel until shop supplies return to normal, after record snowfall brought many areas to a standstill.

Do they have canned haggis in Scotland or is that export only?

Lucky the roads are reasonably clear now for deliveries coming through. Tea drinkers who take milk are still recovering from withdrawal.

Most I've seen in Scotland in my lifetime. Apparently it was just as bad in the late '80s, must've been too busy playing in it...

RAF flies supplies into snow-bound Cumbrian residents
Food and heating materials to be delivered to communities cut off for up to five days

I'm assuming that Cumbria is a rural area with crappy roads and little or no snow-handling equipment on-site? (Like much of the mid-South.)

Yep - well parts of it are a large national park, so the rural part depends on how deep in the forest you live I guess
