I remember back in the late 90s meeting one of the top guys at Dragon Systems who do Naturally Speaking - I think they had just come out with version 5 or 6 at the time. This guy was Italian American - but a real one. He actually had a fairly heavy Italian Accent. I was complaining that his product was shyte and that to do word documents it was taking more time rather than less time.
He stuck on my headset and spoke to my machine like he was shagging it. It was doing everything he said even though I had spent about 4 hours reading into the bloody thing to teach it my voice and would do bugger all for me.
I agree with the video. I have lived most of my life outside Scotland and at times Scottish people thing I have an American twang to my voice but I am sure beyond doubt that these voice recognition systems just hate the Scottish. I think they were secretly invented by an Englishman who remembers that we beat them 5-1 at Wembley sometime in the 70's and stole all the turf to take it back to Scotland when we invaded the pitch.
