anyone have any recomendations here?

I've started a demo account with igindex.co.uk but to be honest I think I need a tutorial or a similar platform.

I know what I want to do (short Australian Banks) and even the way i want to structure the trades but i don't understand the lingo

n.b. Now I know what SEO clients must feel like.

i have an account with them, what structure of trade would you like to do?

At its simplest... if you want to short a stock, you could 'sell' for a £1 a point and you can have a 'guaranteed stop' that will widen the spread a little bit if you're looking for a safety net.

The 'stop' will be triggered at its exact amount if you choose the guaranteed stop, e.g. 20 points. Otherwise, if the stock moves 100 points up with no guaranteed stop on your short you're expected to fund your account to cover a margin, or the full amount if you close the position. The margin % will depend on the particular stock.

You can add a 'limit' if you have a target price you would sell at to realise a profit.

Betfair have a spread betting platform for financials but its not as competitive and comprehensive and IG Index.
