TIL open concept office spaces are damaging to workers’ attention spans, productivity, creative thinking, and satisfaction.

We went from open office to private offices in the new space and I think everyone likes it better.

I've worked in both situations and much prefer having my own work space.  I've found that in open offices people tend to be more concern with what other people are doing.  Instead of making people work harder because they are accountable they end up resenting each other and noting how much the other person is doing non-productive things -- bringing moral down overall.  They saying of "high walls make good neighbors" applies to work environments as well.
