Bloat.  Part of the charm of the classic VW van was it was compact yet had room inside and with a tail wind couuld maintain highway speeds, all for a reasonable price.  This is sounding like our current super sized pickup barges trucks that take at least three tugboats to get them to the dock.

Size wise it seems like a very practical compact electric minivan.  I like the hints of classic styling of the original Microbus.  It would be nice if they offered it in a lower trim level though.  Maybe they will eventually.

That's mostly what I was thinking of. Based on the early hype, I was imagining more pitching to young, free, camping in the van, but at a $70K price tag with plush expensive seats all of those people would just have to figure out how to rip out and throw away, it seems like more of an upscale, fancy family car.

I'm OK with the frame size but I'd prefer a lower-level trim.  If we had a VW dealership in the area I'd still consider one of the plush models to replace my Dodge van --assuming that it met my range and $ubscription requirements.
