Google+ circles
« on: February 08, 2012, 05:23:34 PM »
Playing with G+, wants me to start adding people to "circles". Top of my list, ukgimp, Shawn Collins, PaulH, Rupert, Chris Clarkson, Matt Cutts...

Temptation. Nearly. Overwhelming

I think I only log-in to G+ quarterly, but I think I have a circle just of people I don't know but I follow. I just can't keep up with 3 social networks at once so I ignore G+.

Pages looks interesting. I can abuse that, I think. But yeah, G+ itself looks... I think the word that fits best is "unfinished". As in barely started

OTOH

I still don't understand why any of you Guys on here uses Facebook (unless for pure 'gaming' it for profit reasons)
If my irrational ability to judge a book by its cover isn't completely shot, Zuckerberg's face tells me everything I need to know about how much I should trust them with anything.
The interface irritates me to look at - somewhat ironically, it reminds me of one my shitty adsense pages.

I find Google+ mildly irritating, but that is nothing compared to Facebook.

Sure, I am viewing these from an 'anti-social' starting position, and have no Facebook 'muscle-memory' to overcome, but any differentiation based on user interface puts Google+ ahead of Facebook, surely?

I know I  must be missing something here, but I suspect it is something I am happy to miss.

..... and linkedin is an irritating waste of bandwidth, whatever use it may have for networking is outweighed by their incessant spam.

Mainly to waste time and pretend you have lots of friends, but also to get a few likes now and again for business-related things which can help with SEO.

I mostly use FB to keep in touch with IRL people (such as my mate who emigrated to NZ) who like to use it. It's not so much my choice, as a choice semi-enforced by others. Which feeds right back in to my problem with FB, but we have a thread for that already  ;D

It seems that G+ has taken a page out of Apple's book and kept the interface minimalist, but IMO, they have managed to make it irritating somehow.  And even though it is easier than FB, I'm still sure it must be holding back acceptance amongst the English-majors-who-write-with-a-quill-pen crowd.

I use it to keep in touch with people. It's normally a fun and easy to use platform.

Got lots of spam on Google + as apparently people could add you to their circle, just by knowing your email address. Good day for the email harvesters I guess, judging by the number of "Indian SEO's" who suddenly claimed to be good friends.

Google + is not a friendly systemn IMO. The fact that Google insist everyone keeps real names just says "evil grin while taking your data".

I think they're all over on pinterest anyway along with all the fashionistas ;-)

BTW - just poking around pinterest yesterday and it struck me how easy it still is to rank for all kinds of terms.
