Title: Do Blogs still matter?
Post by: Brad on November 26, 2017, 01:30:42 PM
Let's say you have knowledge on a topic that you concider pretty good. You write a series of how to articles on a new Blogger blog and publish.  You do little or nothing to promote the content, no swapping links with other bloggers, no advertisements.

Is that content ever going to get found?

No, probably not.

..unless Blogger still gets a special kind of Google love. However if it's mindly competitive, you probably wont get any serious organic traffic.

Ditto what  Rumbas said.

While my reader and also my G Alerts *DO* turn up a fair number of blogs, a Blogger-hosted site is extremely rare.  And I kind of put blogger sites in the same 'probably junk' category as .info sites.  It takes a darn good snippet to draw my click.

Thanks.  Sometimes I just need to have experts confirm my suspicions: blogs are the new Geocities, unless you have name recognition.

I could promote said content over social media but then it becomes a matter of how closely I want it to be associated with my name on the Internet.
