Google Adsense Wordpress Plugin?
« on: November 02, 2010, 12:14:06 PM »
Been running Adsense Manager for a long time and it did the work. However it's outdated and not kept up-to-date. Now I installed Yaost SEO plugin to handle titles and some indexing stuff, but the SEO plugin conflicts with the old Adsense plugin and now I need another option - preferrably one that will import all the channels etc. from the old plugin.

Any takers? or have ya'll been booted from Adsense these days (we have on one account) ;-)

No, no dice. Found a bunch of plugins that will do the job. Problem is that I have [ad=whateverX] in a lot of the sites 2,000+ posts. Dont want to edit them by hand, so anything is welcome.

Some sql statements should be able to rewrite what you need, I don't know of any plugins that import from one style to another, and I've played with a few.

Right, Dras - basically just a matter of downloading the db and do some Seek&destroy and import the sucker back into the site.

However it's work and that by definition is uncool.

Just backup your db, and do it from phpmyadmin via sql statements live on the server. If you bork it (heh), just replace your db with the backup.

Also, there is a plugin called sql executioner which I use all the time. Run the statements from wp dashboard.

Install wp backup plugin, save db to desktop.

Install sql executioner (its an old and not recently updated plugin, but still works fine)

Hack away. If you break it, you'll need phpmyadmin to stick the old db back up.

DUH!

If I only kept my eyes open, I would've noticed that the old plugin was substituted by a new one where it automatically imports all the old advertising channels etc.

I know the guy who wrote Advertising Manager.

He was one of the co-founders of OpenX.

You might also want to consider running OpenX in conjunction with Advertising Manager, gives you the ability to do geo-based advertising based on a placement size etc. Run ads in rotation, dayparting, target by demographic and a whole ton more things beside just serving up adsense. You could even use it to split test different ad colors etc. in Adsense and weight the serving based on results.

OpenX sucks!

Great functionality, no doubt. The problem is the gaping security holes which are not being fixed. OpenX prioritizes functionality over security and even though serious security threats have been registered in the bugtracker for months they are not being fixed.

Do a search on G and you will find that a lot of sites have had problems with code injection from OpenX to an extend where they have been forced to abandon OpenX and find a new advertising platform.
