Best Social Plugin for Wordpress Comments?
« on: June 14, 2013, 08:18:48 PM »
Primarily looking for people to comment via facebook or twitter logins on wp.

Lots of plugins out there do this, any one you like/recommend?

I looked at discus, but in the end I wanted the option to post back to fb.

Ended up going with a the official fb plugin, works well.

http://disqus.com/ is good. It does allow users to connect via Facebook.

There's three aspects to social where it ties into a blog that I could see, follows, shares, and auto-postings to twitter, FB and G+.   Looking at the plugins it seems to be a challenge to integrate follows and shares on the same page without overwhelming the user.  How are you all handling this?

I'll just talk about what I ended up doing re: share & follow.  I chose two different plugins which have two different layouts.
For the share side of it I chose Social Media Feather, I like the loading time, and the icon layout.  For the follow side I chose "Follow Me" which adds a little "follow" widget that stays on the side of the page and expands out when moused over.  This plugin is nice because it allows you to add your own icons and urls if they are not on the list.

I haven't looked into this for well over a year (which is naughty I know as I should do this for my product reviews, will get round to it lol) but when I did look into it Livefyre was the one that came out top. I don't know what it is like now or what is currently out there but thought this may help.

One of the issues I came across when looking for them was mixing the comments together so you could login to the site through wordpress and social media, many were an either or. This meant that you also with many didn't retain the comments on your site, they sat solely on the third party application ie facebook. This one offered both at the same time, integrated well and imported the comments into wordpress.

I know I am too late to the thread for you but thought it was still worth posting.
