The German's are spoofing again
« on: October 15, 2015, 01:53:50 PM »
So a lass in our German company was contacted about a product that had not been received.

Apparently another business/ecomm website selling consumer electronics was taking money, but not shipping the product. However on inspection of the site via the punter above the copyright mentions our company at the bottom of each page, and the impressum (legal page) giving our corporate info as the owner of the domain/business. Utter crap, but the reason the punter contacted us.

Looking further into the website I found it was hosted in Berlin (from what I could tell with whois). Contacted the host and doing the abuse report part, etc. Seemed a stupid way of trying to defraud, would have at least thought the domain would be hosted in Russia, etc.

The manager is heading down to the police station to report it, just in case this situation gains any legs. Is there anything else I should be looking at ?

The domain if your interested is: jansen-electronics.de

Getting the police in hand is key. With their assistance you'll likely get the paper trail and IP info from the web hosting company and domain registrar. Just as important, probably more so, is getting the paper trail for the merchant account (Which I couldn't  see who was the acquiring bank)

If the above doesn't work and you have no chance of finding the people behind it then it's all about getting them closed down.

EUCD (EU's version whcih is stronger and more powerful than the DMCA) the hosting company, the registrar and Google too.

At least that way, the site will die a quick death

Getting the police involved did the trick.
