Paypal account restrictions, anyone any experience?
« on: November 09, 2012, 11:39:40 AM »
I have had PP for about 12 years I guess.  Recently had a couple of phone calls from the sales tea=m, offering a complete card solution, with benefits.   After the last one, my account has been restricted.

To lift this restriction, I need to supply some basic business information.  I need to send them a bank statement, I need to advise if I drop ship, or carry stock, and the want to know if I have positive or negative cash flow.  If they were looking to buy my business, then I could understand the questions.  But I really do not get why they need it.

My PP account is always positive cash flow...  there have been no big spikes in the t/o recently.

Now I am aware that PP will be suffering because of Amazons success.  Are they setting up their own stores now?

The good news is a restricted account, just means I cannot close it... but it feels like a threat, so it is a threat.

Anyone else had anything similar?

No idea about their new card solutions, and what that might entail, but it sounds like just want you to confirm your business... it's basically required by them so you can't screw their customers and then dip out.

I'd just call and ask about the restriction.

12 years trading mean nothing?  Feels more like they want to understand my space, and if I drop ship, go direct...

I think it's to do with some new government regulations being brought in to stop people tax dodging :/

They do this every now and again I do know people who have gone through this with them, just give them what they want if they don't lift the restrictions hassle them about what they need from you to do so. It will work out but best to react quickly as they will still accept payments but you won't be able to withdraw them and if they freeze your account they used to hold funds upto 120 days.

Yes, had that happen to me once. That's why it scares me, and I feel it intimidating.

Oh well,  best get it sorted and move on.

Basically, anti-money laundering. Happened to me a couple of times with different accounts, but doesn't take too long to fix.
