Brave Browser adds 'SugarCoat' privacy function
« on: November 18, 2021, 11:20:12 PM »
"The tool, named SugarCoat, targets scripts that harm users' privacy—for example, by tracking their browsing history around the Web—yet are essential for the websites that embed them to function. SugarCoat replaces these scripts with scripts that have the same properties, minus the privacy-harming features. SugarCoat is designed to be integrated into existing privacy-focused browsers like Brave, Firefox, and Tor, and browser extensions like uBlock Origin. SugarCoat is open source and is currently being integrated into the Brave browser."

I missed this one the first time around.

Every time I switch to a browser with "privacy" (whatever that means) baked in, I just get so tired of sites that don't work, which was mostly my experience with Brave. This could solve that problem. I suspect the trackers will respond with more thoroughly obfuscated code and, when that fails, call out the lawyers for copyright and/or patent infringement.

Same for Vivaldi on my craptop. Half the sites launch the "Turn Off Adblocker" popups or overlays. (I hate overlays! Hard to disable with TM and/or UB.)
