Title: Ad-blocker detected
Post by: rcjordan on February 03, 2020, 12:38:26 PM
I'm seeing a good number of sites begging or blocking users with ad-block.

Yeah the old adblockplus isn't very effective any longer. Ublock is now being targeted as well.

I can usually use Ublock to delete the blocker-blocker, but a few sites are using more sophisticated scripting.  In the long run, I'm likely to be forced to use Tampermonkey on my most frequented sites.

Or Pi-Hole.

It's making me go back to just trying with JS off completely. Works in many cases.

I'm running ScriptSafe, so it's doing a lot of cleanup work, too.

Incognito works on about 1/3rd of them.

But they're getting better at blocking blockers.  Like I said, I'll eventually have to alter the page rendering on-the-fly with TM. I already do that with one newsfeed site that mixes in ads with the content.  The publisher can't tell what I do with the page once it is on my machine.
