Title: We're going to need a law...
Post by: rcjordan on February 21, 2020, 08:39:39 PM
...No more than 3 craft breweries on the corners at any intersection.

Craft beers surge in popularity, with more than 7,000 craft brewers in U.S. alone

Debbie says this reminds her of all the CB radio shops that opened almost overnight in the 70s.

True, craft brewers are everywhere.  But I'd rather have them than go back to only having: Bud, Miller,Stroh's (Detroit River Water), PBR and Blatz.  At least with craft brewers you can do a decent local micro brew crawl and sample something different.

They seem to be having a resurgence here too. however a beer lover friend in Norway tells me that they are starting to shut down again over there.  The price of a pint is too steep even for the Norwegians.

Not sure of the date of that article.... its very upbeat so not discussing the decline.

I like some, think its great, but like the CB shops, I suspect Debbie is right the numbers will fall gain.

Its happening with gin in the UK too.....

note to self, put Gin on the shopping list for the coming siege :)

I think you are right Rupert, a lot of local markets are getting over saturated with micro breweries.  Not all will survive.

I can't imagine *half* of them surviving.

massive growth in the UK from about 2014 to 2017, then a tiny amount of new breweries opening in 2018.  I've seen a few reports similar to this one over the past year or so...

Glad to have never been in the drinks business, such a fickle and constantly changing market.

A little like licensed Childrens products in my area. When a big character hits you can't get enough stock and then you wake up one morning and seemingly every child doesn't want that character. You can't even give the stock away
