Title: Spammy wordpress sites
Post by: justdave on April 04, 2011, 11:26:55 AM
I've recently been investigating a competitors back links and they've hundreds from irrelevant wordpress sites which have low quality articles on every subject imaginable. None of these sites have any contact information so I'm guessing this is all automated, what I'm interested to know though is whether this is being done by some spammy software, or is this a service offered by a website (and does this type of spamming have a name)?

As far as I can tell these are all one-way links and I'm hoping Google Panda weeds these sites out.

Without seeing an example, its hard to say whether is automated, sounds like cheap outsourced linkbuilding $5-$10 a post

Could be link systems like 'myarticlenetwork.com' or 'SEOLinkVine.com' - large blog farms that let you inject your articles into them.

There are other services similar to this like linxboss.com and Fantomaster has one as well but I can't remember the name right now.

Frankly, I've seen little evidence of this. It seems to me that ezinearticles has been hit, but the pure spam sites seem to continue unabated. I don't have any pure spam sites and not sure anyone who does will post, but looking at SERPS for various terms where spam sites do very well, they still seem to do very well.

I'd count on getting your own links before I would count on Google to actually tell the difference between quality and crap.

dunno - I reckon I saw a hit from Panda in the UK this week - interesting one too as the links were all what would be generally classed as good, just had a tendancy to be on dupes because of how they were placed.... am keeping an eye on this one
