Title: The Return of the Barter Economy
Post by: Mackin USA on April 01, 2020, 10:55:30 AM
(Bloomberg) -- Since the beginning of March, unattended folding tables have begun popping up at intersections and the end of people's driveways, offering everyday goods like rice, a jar of jam or bread. Take what you need and leave what you can, the signs say.

In my small rural village (in France) shops were fine for a while but are almost empty now.
The only ATM within 35km has been empty for two weeks. Postal services virtually stopped two weeks ago as well so online purchasing doesn't really work either.

The situation will probably not last that long over here but just to point out having money in the bank is of limited use when the ATMs are empty and banks are closed.
We bartered some eggs for meat the other day.
