I thought it might be useful to create a thread for recipes that make use of staple supplies that many of us have stocked up on.
I'll start with one of my grandmother's recipes.

SCOTCH OATCAKES
Fun for kids to make!
3 cups rolled oats
3 cups flour
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon salt
2 cups shortening
1/4 - 1/2 cup water
Mix dry ingredients; cut in shortening until crumbly. Add water and mix well to make a stiff dough. Roll dough flat, cut into squares or shapes, place on a greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 F until golden; 15-18 minutes.
Yummy!
Chicken inspiration!
Bread pie for saving old bread:
an old bread
half a liter of milk
50 gr sugar
5 eggs
75 gr butter
100 gr. raisins soaked in rum
some cinnamon.
Remove the bread from the crust and place in pieces in a bowl.
Add everything except the cinnamon, knead
Butter the bottom and edges of a baking pan and spread the dough evenly
Sprinkle the cinnamon on top with some sugar.
Put in oven

Another use for old bread:
When out of flour, old dried bread can be grinded into make shift flour to make new bread.

That's called Bread Pudding here in the South. One of my favorites.
Only modification is no rum for Baptists, hhh.
We call it Bread Pudding on the West coast of the US too, it is also very good poverty food as old bread is often easy to get for free/cheap.
There is a Thai-Fusion restaurant on the Outer Banks that has a 'Garbage Plate' on the menu. (Which I love.) In that tradition, here's
Garbage Soup
2 cans Baby Corn
1 can Whole Corn Kernels
1 can Pigeon Peas
1 can Black Beans
1 can Succotash
1/2 cup Mayo
1 cup vinegar (Wells BBQ Vinegar in my case. Peppery)
liberal Onion Powder
liberal Smoked Paprika
Drain water from all but 2 cans. Don't drain the succotash. Mix in rice pot or slow cooker. High heat, then simmer --the longer the better.

You can also use day old donuts for this type of recipe.
DIY Wendy's Chili
Combine in the rice pot;
3 lbs frozen hamburger
1 cup bbq vinegar (Wells brand - substitute cider vinegar & bbq sauce)
1 can tomato soup
1 can Pink Beans
1 can Green Beans
1 can Pigeon Peas
1 can Succotash
1 chopped onion
lightly season with chili powder
High heat for 2 hours, Chop up hamburger in the bottom of the cooker
after it has thawed while cooking.
Ours was done after 2 hours, but we let it simmer for a while longer.
It was great. About as "no-prep easy" as you can get.
Quote1 can Pink Beans
1 can Pigeon Peas
1 can Succotash
I had to look these up. We have kidney beans over here. Never heard of pigeon beans before.
As for succotash, I am trying to imagine what it looks like in a tin :)
>Pigeon Peas
Never heard of them either, but they were available on Amz Pantry. I figured peas are peas.
>imagine
Pretty horrific looking. Definitely lacks curb appeal. Bottom row, middle
