Hard to see a future for combat pilots or tank crews. *maybe* from the comfort of a CONEX box and xbox controller, but even that would be temporary.

The big surprise to me in this news is to learn that humans are even remotely still competitive in a dogfight. I would have thought that with billions that have been poured into video games, humans would not stand a chance.

One other thing this did not look at, is it matched similar aircraft. When AI is in the pilot's seat, you don't have to limit the number of Gs you can pull, you don't need to pressurize the cabin, provide a flow of O2, put in an ejection seat and things like that. So the AI-powered aircraft removes a lot of design restrictions. Plus you can add things like 360-view sensors and you just upgrade your hardware a bit and you can monitor radar, visual and IR spectra all at the same time, all in 360-degree view.
