Gael Duval, the founder of the /e/ foundation, has kept a list of ways Google has rooted itself in Android for data collection about users.  This is what they found when deGoogleing Android.

There are some items on that list that are different from Apple (Google DNS) and some that are identical (Play Store vs App Store).

I am just less and less a fan of Apple products from a user point of view. I've had an iPhone for 7 years now and just think that for me the Android phones are better. I'm trying to decide how much I care about this, especially since I'm so deep in the Googleverse anyway.
