We are having another meeting.
Date: Weekend commencing 3rd June
Location: Bristol
.... probably the usual format - some people arriving Friday 3rd evening - others Saturday only... hotel bar, pub, restaurant combination etc.
As Bristol has a watery bit, there will probably be some floaty stuff involved.
Please post in this thread stating whether you can make it or not.
One we have a clear idea of numbers we will sort out the hotel etc
..... I am 'in', obviously :)
==================
Added from later post for ease of finding:
Bristol Marriott Royal Hotel
http://www.marriott.co.uk/hotels/travel/brsry-bristol-marriott-royal-hotel/
Well situated, has smoking rooms, and Ed has bullied the bar manager into at least 'saying' that will stay open as long we need them to.
Rack prices on Aff sites seem to be £103 a night for room without breakfast - £16 extra approx for the breakfast
.... ladies and gentlemen - get your bookings now!
NB. There are two Marriots in Bristol - make sure you get the 'Royal'
I am booked in already (via booking.com), arriving Friday, leaving Sunday
yeah, in.
In :)
In
Nope. King Kurt gig in Nottingham on the Saturday.
Can't promise yet but will certainly try!
Bristol, that's in the south tho innit?
in
Could be in. I was worried it was going to be the 19th.
F*** me, a round trip by ferry (excluding hundreds of miles of motorbiking on the wrong side of the road) costs almost as much as a return flight to Bristol "International" Airport.
Anyone travelling from Harwich or further east even?
----------------------------------
P.S.:
Scratch that. The Ferry is almost TWICE as expensive. Who on earth still travels by boat these days??? ::) ::) ::)
In
Bristol?! WTF? It's almost impossible to get there from Denmark and it takes a day.
Sorry chaps, next time.
out!
honeymooning
Can't see anything stopping me - well, maybe the wife! I presume this is strictly business or are partners mandatory ? :-P

All things can be arranged :)
Anyone who can get to Manchester or Liverpool Airports can take the car trip down with me.
Happy to fit in around flight arrival/departure

You really need to start off how you mean to go on, she will understand.

4Eyes you're a prince. I'll take another look but I'm not confident. But you're still a prince. That reminds me...: did you happen to get married today?
Sorry folks, cannot join you this time, I am sailing in Greece :)
But raise you glasses to me, and I will raise a bottle of Retsina to you all .....or what ever it is over there....
Quotedid you happen to get married today?
nah.... I've 'ad her though ;)

does that mean your attending after all then and have you asked your better half for permission........................hmmm well have you ?
>>Bristol international
hey - flights to the US twice a week. Ok, so you can walk to the carpark in 3 minutes, but technically, its international :)
>> Denmark
Heathrow is only a couple of hours away Rumbus, by train or car.
I'm in ;D
looks like we have quorum then :)
We will select the main Hotel and eating venues once we can find which gutter Edo ended up in (as it was a double bank holiday weekend, this could take some time)
:)
he will be found in the gutter outside some dirty down and out hotel knowing Edo ;)
I was thinking we could all stay at one of my gay mate's care homes that he runs in Bristol. Really lovely guy and can provide free taxis into town if need be. He'll be permanently relocating to South Africa in the next couple of week, so I'm sure he won't mind.

You mean to say that nobody has an affiliate site we can book through ???
*shakes head; ponders how we arrived in this situation*
I can see why we dont do it, to show our "integrity" but you do have a point. We should set up a charity aff code for future and at least help someone.
Good idea that man!
... I love it when people step up and volunteer to head a project like that...
just to clarify, which of you will be in charge - or are you sharing responsibility ;)
Come on Rich >> http://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/
Either to charity or beer fund :)
re: attendees
I am now most likely me +2
are there Saturday day plans?, I may have a +1 at various times but I'll find out for sure if we're at the booking dinner and daytrip to Weston stage.
and congrats Paul :)
Quoteare there Saturday day plans?

in, landing about 3pm Friday leaving Sunday afternoon
I guess we should also state whether there for Friday and Saturday nights, or just one or t'other
I am there for both
In for Friday and Saturday - hoping we might get a touristy thing Sat afternoon and Jamie Oliver's new restaurant Sat evening.
Bring it on!
QuoteJamie Oliver's new restaurant
.. thats the plan at the moment - it looks pretty good :)
will be around friday and saturday even - 2 people. Will probably be around daytime on Saturday.
If we want to try to get into Jamies it'd probably be worth booking asap? - they only accept 2 groups a night I think
Fuck it. Despite the gig. In and booked for Friday only. I'll stay 'til mid-afternoon on Saturday. :)
@Gurtie:
Yup - understood - the site booking system says our dates are clear for now
Will book tomorrow one way or another - guess it is easer to book and increase later, than to just leave it too late.
@Jetboy
yay! :)
hmmmm... Jamies has some awful reviews on Tripadvisor - think it best we find somewhere better reviewed
Will sort something out in the next few days
just saw this in my diary.
does this meeting still have momentum?
Yes - there is nothing left to do except book tbe restaurants - which will happen this week
We want pictures.
Those of you who were signed up to the old SEOCircuit forum, are about to get a bulk mail on this... I reckon it is late enough that it won't add more than the odd one who may live locally, but it is worth giving it a kick to see who is still around :)
QuoteWe want pictures.
... there may even be movies :)
I got the bulk email and it made me jealous!
One of these days I'm going to make to a UK meeting if someone ever schedules one at a time when I have no family commitments.
Have fun everyone!
Hey..... anytime you say you can get over here will be an automatic meeting
:)
Sorry cant do as other half is having a knee op and I am baby sitting.
Have fun
Doug
OK - friday night meal is booked at 'El Puerto' (not much on the site, but here it is anyway: http://www.el-puerto.co.uk) - tapas bar (with good vegetarian options as well).
10mins walk from the Hotel
Booked in at 8pm
... and for Saturday... the 'floaty thing' :) (http://www.bristolferry.com)
There is a ferry stop near the Hotel (3mins) - a 'multi-stop' boat ticket costs about £7 (£5 if booked online).
This ferry does a round trip of 40mins, going past most of the tourist stuff around the harbour - including the SS Great Britain and a few good pubs and eateries (or so I am told)
I suggest we jump on that, and then jump on and off as we see fit :)
Sorry folks - going to have to pull out of this one.
:sigh:
It seems that lots of people who said they were 'definites' are now pulling out at the last minute.
It looks like it might be best to cancel - could just be 4 or 5 of us as it stands.
What is the feeling amongst those that are still available - go or no-go?
I'd love to see you guys after missing the last one, but I can fit in with you all as I'm only half an hour down the road. Am definately still on or both Friday and Saturday if you'll be around.
ok - lets do it anyway
its not the numbers, its the company :)
just working on the details, hopefully in for Friday
In case anyone is staying around for part of sunday, I have a small road trip to undertake that anyone is welcome to join me on.
* Cheddar gorge, to pick up some 'proper' farmhouse cheddar
* Rich's Farmhouse Cider (the best cider I have ever tasted) to pick up a polypin.
I guess it will take about 2 hours or so - probably stop for lunch somewhere too - then back to Bristol
I'm definitely attending, I need to practice my English. And am up for a road trip on Sunday.
I cant make it either
much too busy at work and way behind with the weather plus a guy who works for me has dislocated his shoulder
Mick
You need to keep the guys off your pole dancing rod
Doug
Still in for the Friday. Presumably Andy's still coming over?
ha ha i know Doug :)
sadly its Seamus, we had a session on Monday as it rained all day and we watched the play off instead and I had gone outside asking the taxi driver to wait while he finished his last pint, I walked back inside and he was on the floor in lots of pain
everyone was saying he will be alright as people do after lots of beer but i knew it was a bit more serious and took him to the hospital where it turned out his arm was out of its socket
anyway i hope you all have a good time :)
I'd love to have made it. Whilst I'm not big in to being social, I'd already come to the conclusion that I owe a stack of people here a drink. However I made a promise to my wife that I wouldn't do any over-nighters until we can get our children to start synchronising their sleep a bit - so I might have to wait 10 or 12 years more.
Have fun all though.
you could pop up for lunch on Saturday?
No car at the moment, remember! Bastard thing - going to be next tue/wed before I get it back. I'm in danger of losing weight with all this damn walking.
It's do-able by train - just been looking at it. That also has the advantage of being able to return drunk - although does mean being drunk and transferring in southampton at some point, so I'd end up stabbed as part of the deal.
Booked. No room at the inn so staying at Raddison blue round corner or something like that.

The drunken transfer in Southampton alone will make it worth it. ;D
anyone who needs my mobile number, PM me
What time are people going to be there please.
I will be at the Hotel between 4 and 5
Restaurant is booked for 8
Will be in the bar playing with my fondleslab till it is time to leave
17:30. Just leaving.
Jason - only read your message on here at midnight last night. Give Colin or I a call if you fancy coming down today (Sat). Cheers, Ed.
LOL 6 years ago we had cellphones and stuff :P ::) ;D
thats an arse Jason, hell of a long drive with no cup of tea at the end :(
tragic we missed you - what a PITA
Meeting was great - Bristol is far nicer than I imagined even - and great to catch up with you guys again.
I also managed to pick up a 36 pint poly-barrel of farmhouse cider AND the only cheddar cheese still matured in the actual caves in the Cheddar Gorge - wonderful stuff.
Sean, how did you like the cheese?!
Thats a wounder Jason.
Sorry
It serves you right Jason for not committing earlier like wot we did :D
Had a great time. Good to see everyone.
Sorry again to Mr Duke.
Ed
