I think hydrogen cars will take longer to become accepted, but I think there is a place for them in the vehicle lineup, especially in North America. EV's might make great commuters, but what about when you want to take the kids to visit Grandma?

The Rivian is rated at 300 mi, that'll get most of the US to Grandma's house. Along both coastal corridors, the current Tesla owners say long distance travel really isn't a problem and they have learned to not worry about range issues. But, yeah, in Wyoming or -say- along the Trans-Canadian highway, EVs are going to have to pull a trailer with a generator, hhh.
I note the article slipped in the mention of a "five minute fill-up". That is a consideration. Americans don't like to wait an hour to top off their car.

Level 3: DC fast charging — the quickest charge available. On the Rivian Adventure Network, you will initially be able to charge an R1T and R1S up to 140 miles in 20 minutes. That rate can increase with over-the-air software updates. In addition to the Adventure Network, Rivian vehicles can also use public DC fast chargers.
Level 2: Public and home charging — capable of charging roughly 16-25 miles of range per hour depending on the electrical current available. Level 2 charging is accessible through the Wall Charger, Rivian Waypoint chargers, public charging sites and by using our Portable Charger with 240V outlets.
Level 1: A slower charge — handy if you need to top off on a regular household outlet. Using the Rivian Portable Charger with a standard 120-volt outlet, you will get a few (3) miles of charge per hour.

This is great news. I believe in hydrogen cars more than any electric vehicle at the moment. It simply makes more sense for me. It even clears the air around you and creates drinkable water. I hope this becomes more popular sooner than later. I don't want any battery toy car dependent on electricity only.
