That was the first thing I thought when I saw that price. 90% of the reason that I have a Chromebook, which opens all my data to Google, is price and the other 10% is security (not because the OS is inherently secure, but because it stores very little locally, so the exposure from someone pulling the HD is less).
MS is probably deathly afraid of young people arriving in the workplace never having seen Windows and questioning why all the old farts want to use this thing.
