80v  Now we're getting somewhere with battery yard equipment.  Probably still too light-duty for heavy snow.

Looks like the snow blower isn't powerful enough. https://youtu.be/2g4QjyHGyrw?t=248

My dad was already doing electrical & mechanical construction back when Edison was fighting Tesla and pushing DC current. Some buildings went with Edison and were wired DC.  One of my dad's huge, arm-breaking drills was 120v AC AND DC but plug-in for both.  80vdc is getting closer, but not there yet.  We might get there sooner for wheeled equipment because they can handle the weight, but high-powered cordless hand tools are going to have to have lighter battery tech.

Yeah, definitely couldn't handle the snow here. It might be fine for an inch or two with the right kind of driveway. In our driveway and sidewalk I need to get a decent throw on the snow to get it up over the retaining walls.

When I moved to Florida I got a battery operated mower. Pretty sure it was 40v. Used it for 5 minutes, boxed it up, and sent it back. Couldn't handle the wet grass there. I have a cordless trimmer and blower now and those work just fine. The trimmer has enough juice to get me around the back and front yards with plenty to spare. Can't see ever getting a gas powered trimmer again.

>trimmer and blower

Same experience here. 40v Ryobi trimmer and blower have been great for 4-5 years now.
