As I mentioned in another thread, this is why I did not want the Tesla Powerwall in/on my house. This was my biggest fear and why I went with lithium ferro-phosphate. It is a lithium ion battery, but a different chemistry than the lithium cobalt in EVs, laptops and Powerwalls and much less prone to catching fire. I'm sure given the wrong circumstances it can catch fire, but that's true of all manner of things like heaters and water heaters and toasters and such
Our local waste to energy plant recently had a fire that was most likely caused by lithium ion batteries.
