Title: Relax, you don't have to meditate

How mindfulness can make you a darker person

You can go back to putting that time to good use playing World of Warcraft now.

Or doom-scrolling. Even my fire-murder-disaster blocking doesn't stop doom-scrolling of late.

I mostly outsource my doomscrolling. Thank you.

;-)

I also don't play WoW or, for that matter, any games. But I do manage to fritter away vast amounts of time on very non-mindful pursuits.

No games for me, either --with the exception of solitaire, which I play waaay too much.  That said, I'm asked quite often about Wordle lately. She also has been playing some sort of multi-team cut-throat crossword competition for more than a year now, so she was well prepared for wordle .

I'm not against games, by the way, and don't mean to criticize people who are.

It just isn't something I enjoy. I've even tried a couple times to take up some form of computer gaming. After my dissertation, I told myself I was going to do nothing but play first-person shooters for 30 days. I thought it would be sort of weird form of meditation - like shutting off my brain and just blasting things. After a few nights of good sleep and a day of gaming, I lost interest. Also, most new games are so hard if you don't have a lot of time as a gamer as a kid, that just getting started is frustrating. My fundamental laziness prevented me from getting addicted to computer games, which is probably a good thing.

I still wish I were more interested in board games with friends, but it just isn't my thing.

somehow related;

Scientists devised a text message mediation robot that can help users control their anger when receiving upsetting news. This device may help improve social interactions as we move towards a world with increasingly digital communications

OK... that is officially weird.
