Hmm.  Interesting read but I'm not sure if I disagree or agree with the author.

I kinda agree with the challenges part although maybe not his examples.  Web 2.0 dumbed everything down to Facebook and Twitter whereas before you needed to learn HTML.

We dumbed the Internet down and consolidated everything under big tech. This author touches on that:

QuoteBut, all along, were told that the next generation would be the real deal. Their level of digital literacy would dwarf ours. Everyone and their dog would be the next Zuckerberg. I must say that I am underwhelmed.

Again, you will tell me they are everywhere. And, I will agree with you and nod my head, but follow up with a question: How is it that so many are so digitally illiterate?

Here's one:

How to build a digital garden with TiddlyWiki

https://nesslabs.com/digital-garden-tiddlywiki

QuoteIf you want to publish your digital garden on the web (after all, the point is to foster collective thinking), you can host it with any free static website hosting provider, such as GitHub, NeoCities, Netlify, or Vercel.

Not quite as s*xy as hosting on RaspberryPI but being able to host a personal wiki on Github or Neocities is something.

> DotClear

Thanks for that RC I got it bookmarked.

The British pulled off a great operation considering they used biplanes and only 18 inch torpedoes.

This reminds me, I hope the US Navy Pacific is paying attention to their defenses and security.  If China decides to attack Taiwan they may decide to do a preemptive strike on the US Pacific Fleet first.

The nice thing about old time static web sites is the most you have to fear is occasional auto-playing MIDI music.
