Unexpected.
Seems that MS lost the race to make phones work like computers, so instead are planning to make computers work like phones. I reckong my Wife/sister/mum would love it. Looks like a pain in the arse to do any work on though.

I agree, it looks lovely, and might be great on a tablet. I just can't see it being as quick as the good old keyboard and mouse though. I don't really want to leave finger prints all over my screen either...or maybe I should just stop eating at my desk?
It does look pretty slick, and they put some thought into it. But... yeah it'd have to be on a "play" tablet.
I see they are still squaring everything off. Making the interface feel a little more organic couldn't hurt.
Yeah, I was thinking that it would be great on a tablet, but horrible on a desktop. That touch-centric interface would get in the way of getting any work done.
I don't know...this might just work on a desktop as well. I could see that Start screen getting old fairly quickly but the navigation could work with a mouse. I'm a fan of mouse gestures in my browsers (starting with Opera) and it can make browsing and navigation a lot easier. Imagine that expanded to the entire OS. It could have some potential.
I can already tell that Windows 8 is going to be a real love it or hate it OS. All the old fogeys will be clinging to their copies of Windows 7 and saying they'd rather use Vista than Windows 8. ;)
There's an option for the traditional desktop if you want it.
