Title: Why didn't the Pi-Top make it?
Post by: rcjordan on September 03, 2022, 12:15:58 PM
I'm looking to replace the Chromebook for a browsing machine over the next year and was going to try an rpi setup.  I figured the rpi is mature enough that somebody was making a traditional laptop shell for it now.  Well, they did  --but it went belly-up.

I think it was mostly a question of timing.  Anything under the Pi 4 wasn't a very good desktop experience.    There is a new startup though -- CrowPi L  (https://www.crowpi.cc/products/crowpi-l?ref=hioKxCvwrRuNz).

Here is a video walk around of it. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DxCawfE3eq0)

I saw the CrowPi models. They seem to be selling a 'learn to program' kit with it.  I was hoping for more of a ready-to-browse model.

Assembly is required, but it looks like the "basic" kit is just the laptop bits and not the programing board.  No need to dab in that direction if you don't want to.
