Going to get a reasonable SSD and use that as my primary drive to speed up performance without doing a monster hardware upgrade.
Any recommendations as to what to use or more importantly what not to use?

The latest and greatest is the new drives with Sand Force SF-2200 procs. (Vertex 3 in the OCZ line.)
You need Win 7 for trim capabilities. (Don't do this on Vista.)
Not sure about the best mid or low grade atm.
