Interesting thx. 
I never really thought I had an alternative unless I was on Cyanogen, and so when that died, I assumed that option had (Apart from the huawei  option that I did not see as a benefit)

Turns out there are loads:

Anyone here use alternatives? Not sure I am up to using Amazon..

I remember F-Droid from years ago. Don't recall using it much but I remember it being a very positive experience. Samsung meh. Humble Bundle? Is that just for games?

I don't recognize the others.

I use the /e/OS app "Lounge" that comes with /e/OS.  It's nice.  I also use the F-Droid store which I highly recommend.  I try and use as few apps as I can and do most everything on my browser instead and I find the mobile websites like twitter and Mastodon work very well on the browser.
