In March 2011, TDG queried a random sample of adult broadband users that subscribe to cable, satellite, or telcoTV service as to the likelihood they would downgrade their PayTV service in the next six months—that is, "...move from a higher service tier to a lower one, or cancel a premium service of some kind." In general, the percentage of Netflix Streamers to varying degrees likely to downgrade their PayTV service increased from 16% in 2010 to 32% in 2011.

Cable operators deserve it. They've been ripping people off for far too long.
With a digital antenna, Channel Master over the air DVR, Roku, AppleTV and the Internets I really don't need cable channels. People are getting used to their programming ala carte and the cable TV industry needs to adapt.

Exactly. That is exactly what it is. Crappy service, and high charges. People have are sick to death of being f*cked up the back end.
Being told the cable guy will come to your house between 1 and 6 and then they don't show up, or they charge out the nose to have a second television in the house EVEN though it is the same line. Or being charged twice for cable AND internet.
Screw em. I hope they go out of business. I've got nothin nice to say about them. *shakes fist*
Cox just raised our cable bill. It is now $190/month. I like to DVR a few shows, but they aren't worth several dollars each. I might cancel cable altogether. They've gone mad.

Yep, when my stuff went over $100/month I dropped it. Back then they only had 7 or 8 HD channels which is all I watched.
Add the fact you are paying for channels that run ads almost as bad as the big 4, and I have no desire to go back. I don't understand why consumer prices aren't much less, must be a LOT of hands in the pie.

Good point Trav, however $200 is pricey imo. Though with internet access, ip tv, ip phone I'm probably there to.. sigh.
