As far as I can see, Americans plan to pretend it isn't happening, then admit with resignation that it is and is inevitable, then fall back to trying to make the kids pay for it, then when the kids decide they don't really want to do that, to yell, "Nobody wants to work these days" which seems to mean, "Dammit, I am losing my welfare payment that allows me to not work to support myself because these damn kids don't want to work to support me."
