Being independent of Big Tech gives Brave search some credibility.

With Bing raising their API price it will be interesting to see what Yahoo does next time their contract is up.  SOmewhere, I remember a post here about Yahoo talking up future upgrades to their search.

There is certainly an opportunity for both Brave and Mojeek to find customers for their API's.  I'm not sure the other up and coming search engines with their own indexes are ready yet.

More than a few Hacker News users say they use paid search engine Kagi.  I was somewhat surprised.

>Kagi

I thought Kagi was Apple only, or it used to be.  The problem is privacy: if I have to register to pay, then my searches are not very private.  Also Kagi might be good but I only have the word of a very few paid subscribers.  I've not seen an indepth review or comparison.
