September is a good time to have a meeting - so why not.
Normally, if we don't serve up the venue as a fait accompli, these threads end up with one proposed venue per poster - the herding cats principle again.
I guess the venue is not that important in itself as long as it is likely to attract enough people and is accessible.
Personally, I am unlikely to be able to get outside the UK this year - but don't let that stop anyone from suggesting venues that exclude me, wherever we decide will end up excluding some of us, fairs fair etc.
So, my initial suggestion is 'Windsor' (http://www.windsor.gov.uk)
Not been myself, but it is 'nice', easy to get to (near enough to Heathrow and London), and has some 'tourist pull'.
Anyone interested?
Other suggestions?
In.
Probably wont get out of the UK for me either.
Nice place, late bar and parking. I must admit I like grand places, and we must be close to a few decent restaurants.
Oxford was good.
Windsor is local for me and it would be great to meet some more people from here.
depending on dates, I'm in.
UK is easier for me too - Windsor fine (close to Bray if anyone fancies some very decent restaurants) or could consider Dublin or Belfast perhaps? both quite easy from most of the world and nice to visit.
Windsor sounds great - I'm in.
Windsor is right next to Heathrow so a trip from Edinburgh is easy for me - hope I can make it this time (for the first time).
good for me. A date though?
QuoteA date though?
I guess it's open to suggestion - one weekend in September is as good as any other for me
Weekends of the 17th and 24th are out for me, but I can do the first two in the month.
Windsor is v.convenient for me. September is good as well - family life should have settled down by then.
Ok - lets propose weekend commencing 09/09/2011 then.
Any obvious problems with that date?
I think it works for me. There are a couple of things in Sept that I am waiting for dates on, that I must do, but yup, I am in.
this one? http://www.eigexpo.com/
That's a shame - would the previous weekend be any better - or does that cause problems for anyone else ?
Is this dead now?
..... only if everyone expects me to do all the organising.
Got a few issues to resolve that take priority at the moment.
I'm going to take this thread off track
but I'm game for a US meeting whenever you guys want and wherever you guys want
Hope you get things sorted 4Eyes. Give me a shout if there's anything you think I can help with (short of organising a meet in Kent!)
just because 4eyes cant be arsed sorting it out does not mean we can't have a weekend away now does it ?
from previous posts it would seem the end of September is more suitable so the weekend 30th September in Winsor
who's up for it ?
I am :)
... now that some other poor bastard is in the barrel :D
:D :D :D :D
and you can all buy me a birthday drink :)
...after midnight
Did Gurtie just blag someone else organising her birthday party?
... we need that confirming if we are gonna get together in advance and rehearse our 'full monty' dance routine for her
:)
>> 'full monty' dance routine
I'm out!
;D
Any closer on a date/venue?
I can only do the weekend of the 24-25th now. :(
in the absence of any other suggestions, lets take that as the target date then.
What about you Ras, as you seem to be making suggestions that you might make the trip to war torn England?
We're thinking about it, however it has to be rather close to an airport. We're pretty flexible as to the dates.
suggested venue of Windsor is good for Heathrow - regular bus service even: http://www.londontoolkit.com/whattodo/windsor_heathrow_bus.htm
Anyone up for a pre-Xmas meeting?
Yup, someone mentioned the 9th Dec.
Personally I would choose a coastal spot, but to make it more friendly how about: Bristol Manchester or London. I think if we can get 5 of us to agree to a fri or sat night.
Was it a Britannia we stayed at a while back in Manchester? Are the flights OK into Manchester for anyone out of the country? Or are we better at that place near Stanstead, where Jason had his spam outfit on?
In the mean time: no one going to the next LondonSEO gig?
Or am I asking a weird question here?
If had enough spare time at the moment, I would consider it - could be fun
sadly... got major client stuff intruding on my own rebuilding exercises :(
... always a chance that I might pull a rabbit out of the hat at the last minute though
you going zwarty?
Coincidentially, I'll be in London at the time. Is up to the W+K if I can skip shopping, a museum and tea for this one heh
