I've seen mention in the press that tire sales are way up in regions with a lot of EV's.  I didn't realize it was this bad.

Yikes this is into the old bias-ply (pre radial) tire wear territory.

Yeah it's definitely a thing.  The Bolt came with brand new michelins and after 18k mi. they are looking a bit thin.  She'll get new ones for the next school year.   Some BOlt owners switch to Chevy Cruz 15" wheels and put more meat on the rims.  You give up a little range. 
I'll probably do that.

I think it's mostly the lower rolling resistance, not the battery weight.   The bolt weighs 600 lb more than a civic.
