G5 Conditions Observed!
It appears we missed the aurora at this latitude. Apparently it was quite spectacular last night but we didn't hear about it until this afternoon.
Supposed to still be quite good in the northern part of the US still... and we just left Minnesota two days ago.
It was amazing over the UK.
But we missed it.
I understand its difficult to predict, and changes almost minute by minute, so we are looking at an app to give us warning to try and NOT miss it next time.
If we keep messing around with G5s your app -and much, much more- might not be working.

We had a pretty good view around here. Saw a pretty decent light show at our house but some friends posted pics from a bit further away from the city with less light pollution and the colors were amazing.
Missed it on Friday, non-event on Saturday, from SE Scotland. Cracking pictures from locals. Guess I'll need to go to Lapland or wait another 20 years.
Glad that a lot of people managed to see it for the first time though

One of the sad things of our age is that photos are often better than the real thing due to sensors that work well in low light and long exposures. In Yosemite there is an annual "lunar spraybow" event. The photos are amazing, but when you're there in person it's just a faint shimmering. For a red/green colorblind guy like me, it's a non-event since that end of the spectrum is dominant.
So if you're looking at a 2-second exposure with an F1.2 lens, you're not seeing anything like what people saw live. I know this was true for the impressive photos people took here.
RC, you know we are ignoring the potential catastrophic effects... there is nothing we can do about it :)
