QuoteGoogle: Hold Off On Creating Business Profiles On Google+, "Non-User Profiles" Will Be Shut Down (http://searchengineland.com/google-hold-off-on-creating-business-profiles-on-google-non-user-profiles-will-be-shut-down-84607)
"The business experience we are creating should far exceed the consumer profile in terms of its usefulness to businesses. We just ask for your patience while we build it. In the meantime, we are discouraging businesses from using regular profiles to connect with Google+ users. Our policy team will actively work with profile owners to shut down non-user profiles."
You can sign up for their test program for Business profiles here: http://goo.gl/zq95C
I signed up already.
those profiles will also be 'retired' by the look of it!
Yeah, so you're wasting your time if you're making them now. Best to wait.
even the test profile one I mean - its a bit crap if you sign up to help test, manage to get a great profile, and then its dumped after they iron out the bugs and you have to start again.
Ah. Not sure about the test profiles. I guess if I get accepted into the test group I'll have to read the fine print.

That URL no longer works - it was only for two weeks apparently :(
I think I saw a reference to the end of this application on my Twitter feed some time back. They haven't sent me anything, so I guess my application is in the old circular file.
Google is still having issues with this:
QuoteGoogle Removes Mashable, Sesame Street & Other Prominent Accounts From Google Plus (http://searchengineland.com/google-removes-mashable-sesame-street-other-prominent-accounts-from-google-plus-86788?utm_source=sel&utm_medium=scap&utm_campaign=email)
Some of the biggest company/brand accounts on Google+ have now — finally, some might say — been removed.
The Google Plus pages for Mashable, Ford and Sesame Street are all gone. Our own Search Engine Land page has also been removed. Mashable was, according to SocialStatistics.com, the No. 4 most popular account on Google+ with more than 103,000 followers.
All of those accounts have been replaced by a 404 error message.
I feel like this is a big mistake from Google - I can understand why they want people to use the site 'properly' but the entire ethos of social is that its not controllable on a granular level. It seems disingenuous of Google to launch a social site and then get prissy when people try to use it not exactly as they planned.
that aside, I think it speaks volumes about how important social traffic is to businesses now.
