France tried it but couldn't make it stick.

Quoteuseful way of attracting and retaining employees, and improving productivity by creating the same output over fewer hours.

The first clause means that this is dependent on a tight labor market.

The second clause means it ends as soon as they get less work in four days than they do in five.

I was always hoping for a world where you would work 20% less and get 10% less pay. Even 20% less pay except at the very bottom end.
