Which brings me back to an earlier question: when is it time to simply block Google from crawling your site?
It's a classic first-mover problem. If you are in the first 20% of sites (weighted by search volume) to block Google, then you are basically committing harakiri. After that Google has to adapt or die.
I don't think ad-supported search can co-exist with quality content for commercial websites. I don't think any form of good AI chatbot can co-exist with quality content for commercial websites.
It makes me wonder... if Google and chatbots destroy all the websites, how do they exist?
