Fortunately I've been boosted.  I got the Measles, Mumps and Rubella vaccine shot a couple of years ago for the mumps protection and I dimly remember something about measles booster.

I've been wondering if my vaccine was still protective and it sounds like maybe not.

I'm so overdue for a primary care visit/physical and I think I'm due for multiple vaccines. Shingles and measles at least, depending on the measles antibody test.

Here in Manitoba many vaccines are free but not shingles. A few years ago Marcel and I both got the shingles vaccine (two doses) and called it our Christmas gift to each other!

Because of some international travel I've had more vaccines than average, I think.

I'm sure you all know but just in case... The old shingles vaccine wasn't holding up longterm, Shingrix is the updated flavor.  It wasn't free, I was 64 -not yet on Medicare- and it was $275.

We knew a number of adults, not just the elderly, that were tortured by shingles. I paid the $275.

That's good enough motivation for me to get it.  I've already had a Shingles outbreak in my 40s.  It was so strange, you feel it coming on before any visible signs.  It was during a time where one of my kids was really stressing me out.  I realized later that there are times you just have to let things go.  Anyway, the anti-viral drug the put me on worked really well and I cleared up quickly.
