If this is real, it looks like a nightmare to me.
Smart toothbrushes exist, I'm afraid.

Honestly, as with most such things, it's the fate of the data that concerns me. Do I care if my toothbrushing data gets hacked? Not really in isolation, but in aggregate, what's private?
I also care when things fail to work without the app. My LG appliances cannot do a delayed start without the app. And since the app fails to connect, they can't do a delayed or scheduled start. That pisses me off.
But reminders of when you brushed, whether you need to, whether the pressure is too great and damaging your gums could help with a lot of oral health. Like this post made me realize that I forgot to brush this morning. I would not at all be against a reminder for that. It's frankly far more useful than all the crap my car can do over the app, 0.000% of which I use (it runs over the cell system not wifi, so is useless to me when parked at home).
I don't think a priori such things are a nightmare. It could be a boon. It depends on context and circumstances.
