I wonder what the long-term return would be if the government funded an Operation Warp Speed type of effort for next-gen drugs for some of the most costly diseases with the understanding that people who took the money would be limited in how much they could charge.
One of the unique things about OWS was that it promised the money to everyone who had a viable plan, not just the first one to market, so companies didn't sink tons of money into something that they couldn't ever sell.
